I love the bookmarks that my elements brand bullet journal gives me, however most of the time I find myself wanting more ribbon bookmarks. So I figured out a way to attach them to any bullet journal you have.
This is a really simple process and all it takes is a ribbon of your choice, some super glue, a pen, and some patience. Yes, in that order.
1) Glue the Ribbon
Here you can see this is where we are going to put the ribbon. Put a couple of dabs of glue on the inside of the spine, on top of the existing ribbon up against the booklet. Then while the glue is still wet add your ribbon. you want your ribbon to slide down the spine about 1 1/2 inches to make sure that it doesn’t yank out after the glue is dry.
Once you have slid your ribbon into the spine secure it with a pen. The average size bullet journals should fit a pen perfectly while the covers are opened at this angle. This makes sure that the ribbon stays in contact with the glue as it is drying. Now wait a couple minutes for the glue to dry.
2) Add Your Bookmark Charms
While you are waiting you can find some charms to put on the bottom of your bookmark if you so desire!
Once the glue is dry, you can glue on your charms and there you have it!
I go into a little more detail about how I glue my charms in this video
Another note on charms, try not to make them too heavy or else the ribbon will slide down in-between your pages. If you have a heavy charm you are super in love with, my advise is to add a piece of washi tape at the top of your page where the pages in the center join, like this!
This way my ribbons don’t slide at all, they stay in place and my page is easy to reference!
I hope this post inspires you to create exactly what you want when it comes to your bullet journal. Life is to short to not have enough bookmarks! If this inst enough check out my post on making paperclips for your bujo!
