I love wide-brimmed hats, they remind me of the 60s and the summer and fall when the sun is intense and we humans need to protect ourselves from its scorching rays. This being said, I realize that wide brim hats don’t really fit into my lifestyle being all floppy and cumbersome. Unfortunately I figures this out after already purchasing one at my local Goodwill Outlet. So I tried to figure out what I wanted to do with this adorable hat.
I decided that I would refashion it into a shorter brimmed hat with a bow! Like so! Ho Ho Ho
All I did was cut off the width that I didn’t want on the hat and then I fashioned a band and a bow out of it. I needed to cut out 5 separate pieces from the salvaged width of the hat. the required pieces can be seen below.
To put the pieces together I just hand stitched and messed with all the bits until they fit together!
This all depends on the brim you are working with but hopefully the idea can be applied to something!
